The Man Who Turned into a Stick

- Studio 77, Wellington New Zealand

This project was for both my undergraduate Directing THEA 406 course and Research THEA 489 course, where I worked as the director and set designer at Victoria University of Wellington. I explored the integration of Eastern and Western artistic styles to create kinetic scenography reflecting the play’s dramaturgy. The audience sat in a spiral configuration and the action took place in the negative space of the spiral, here the audiences’ world and the play’s world became one. The center vertical spiral-structure revolved when pushed.
